Hello GALS families!

November is here along with cooler weather and less daylight. We’ve started Thunder Wars already, and Cougill’s Cornucopia, pictured below at the Final Mile, is dominating!  Thank you for all you do to support your students so they can show up as their best selves every day.

Important notes this week:

  • The DPS “Your Voice/Tu Voz” Family Survey is open now through Wednesday, Nov. 15. Your Voice focuses on measuring outcomes across the district and its learnings from these surveys directly impact students and families.

Families can access the survey link here. Families who complete their survey between now and Nov. 15 will be eligible for a gift card giveaway! Make an impact this November by taking the DPS Your Voice/Tu Voz family survey. As a reminder, unlike previous years, DPS will administer the survey to families once in the fall and will administer it to students once in the spring.

  • CO Gives Day is GALS Gives Day!

As you have heard, GALS fundraises close to $500,000 annually to implement our unique program model - that's $500,000 more than we receive from DPS! Wow! We raise money to support: GALS Series & GALS Action Teachers, Movement and Athletics Programming, Mental Health & Wellness programming, Technology, Field Trips, and our Inclusion Model.

YOU CAN HELP!  Colorado Gives Day - or as we say "GALS Gives Day", is the time of year we ask families to lean into supporting the school with a cash donation - our goal is $75,000 - and we can do it! You can schedule a one time or repeating gift HERE anytime between now and December 5!  Please reach out to carol.bowar@galsdenver.org with any questions!  AND THANK YOU for your support!

  • Enrollment season is nearly here!  If you have friends, siblings, or neighbors interested in learning more about GALS, please have them reach out directly to Alex Jimenez, alex.jimenez@galsdenver.org, who can invite them to our upcoming info sessions, tours, and shadow day opportunities. Let’s keep building a strong GALS community movement together!
  • Please click HERE to read the fall/winter edition of “Nurse’s Notes,” which contains important health information and updates from our school nurse, Tania Garrett-Guy.  You can also reach out to her directly by emailing tania_garrett-guy@dpsk12.net.
  • INCLEMENT WEATHER CLOSURES AND DELAYS

GALS follows all inclement weather school closures and delays made by Denver Public Schools. When DPS schools are closed due to the weather, GALS will also be closed. Broadcasts are usually made by 6:00am on the DPS website (dpsk12.org), and on the three major local news networks. When DPS calls a delayed start, GALS will follow suit. Please call the front office with any questions (303-282-6437).
