Trash Sculptures, Spirit Week, and More!

Yesterday we hosted a gallery walk of this year’s “trash sculptures,” which students have been working to create in their wellness squads from found and recycled materials at GALS.  Make sure to ask your student about their sculpture, and what they learned working with their team to complete a project together.  The winning sculpture was from Mr. Messerli’s squad, who produced a boombox with mix tapes to represent each individual student in their group!  As you can see from the photos, all of the sculptures this year were incredible!

Coming up next week we have our fall spirit week, organized by Ms. DeMink’s 8th grade squad.  See information in the table below so that you know what’s going on and how your student can participate!

Finally, THANK YOU to all who were able to attend fall conferences earlier this month - we had over 90% of our families attend!  As our students continue to deepen their learning, your partnership and support makes all the difference in the world.  If you missed your conference, you should have received information from your student’s wellness squad leader about their progress in classes.

Important other notes this week:

  • Enrollment season is upon us!  If you have friends, siblings, or neighbors interested in learning more about GALS, please have them reach out directly to Alex Jimenez, alex.jimenez@galsdenver.org, who can invite them to our upcoming info sessions, tours, and shadow day opportunities.  Information will also be posted on our website by the end of the week.  Let’s keep building a strong GALS community movement together!

  • Please click HERE to read the fall/winter edition of “Nurse’s Notes,” which contains important health information and updates from our school nurse, Tania Garrett-Guy.  You can always reach out to her directly by emailing tania_garrett-guy@dpsk12.net.
