Academics
GALS Middle School
When you walk into a GALS classroom, it feels different. Students and teachers laugh together, move together, and learn together. Teachers incorporate project-based learning and interdisciplinary connections into daily lessons. Girls are comfortable to be themselves, ask questions, and take academic risks. And most importantly, our students move! Whether it’s purposefully infused into the lesson to help the brain remember better, or whether it’s simply a brain break, movement is used to keep students engaged in their learning.
The GALS Experience: Read More
Since our founding of the GALS Middle School in 2010, diversity, inclusion, and access have been critical core values. We believe the best education occurs in a school made up of students, teachers, and families drawn from many different socioeconomic backgrounds, cultures, races, religions, and sexual orientations. GALS Denver seeks to create a school where students and adults are welcomed and supported, and where their faces, voices, and experiences are reflected and valued. We believe that the work of inclusion is a responsibility held by all and done for all, person to person.
In addition to core academic classes (described below), GALS offers elective courses that include the performing arts, visual arts, Spanish language, STEM, music, and many others.
“The teachers have the bandwidth to reach all students and are able to develop meaningful relationships with their students. I like that my child is seen and teachers are able to develop her strengths.” – GALS Parent
